Troubleshooting
What the messages mean and what to do when WordPress stops answering, a request is partially done, a page shows an error or the credits run out.
"WordPress in this tab has stopped answering" #
The WordPress running in your tab has hung, usually after a long task such as a big plugin install. Press Reload this page: your site opens as it was last saved in this browser, and changes saved before it stopped are kept (Undo restores them if you want). Then send the request again.
"WordPress is busy" #
A long WordPress task, such as installing a plugin, is still running in the tab. InstaWP Studio says so once and tells you when WordPress answers again. Wait for it; nothing is lost.
"Keep this tab open until it finishes" #
WordPress runs in your tab, so closing or reloading it stops the request. Leave the tab open until the status says Done. A phone that switches to another app may pause the work; come back to the tab to let it finish.
The reply says Partially done, Blocked or No changes #
Every request ends with a status that InstaWP Studio measures itself:
- Partially done: part of the request was made. The reply lists what remains under Remaining; say "continue" or ask for the remaining items again.
- Blocked: a limit stopped the request, such as credits, repeated errors or a change that could not be made. The line says which. For credits, see Credits.
- Not verified: the change was saved but its effect could not be checked. Look at the page; ask again if it is not right.
- No changes: the request changed nothing. Rephrase, or point at the exact spot with Click to edit.
A request that stopped early lists what it left under Not finished. "Continue" picks up where it stopped.
"Could not finish" or "Connection lost" #
The request ended because the connection to InstaWP Studio dropped or the server restarted. Changes saved before it stopped are kept. Send the request again. During a InstaWP Studio update, the tab says "Studio is updating — try again in a minute."
A page in the preview shows an error #
A bar above the preview says what is wrong and where, in plain words, and offers to explain and fix it. This is common after activating a plugin that does not get along with another; the fix is usually to deactivate it, which the assistant can do.
"Studio x.y.z is ready" #
InstaWP Studio was updated while your tab was open. Press Refresh when it suits you; the tab never reloads by itself or during a build. What's new lists what changed.
"You have used the free credits for this browser" #
The free credits that come with a browser are used up. Your sites stay as they are. Sign in with InstaWP for more, or host a site to add credits every month. See Credits.
The site card says "On another device" #
Signing in lists your sites on every browser, but a draft's WordPress lives only in the browser that built it. Open the site on that device, or share a link or publish from there so it has an address of its own.
"This site is open in another tab" #
A site runs in one tab at a time. Press Use it here to move it to this tab once the other tab's work finishes, or go back to the other tab.
The design does not show after installing a theme #
Your pages, header and footer belong to the InstaWP Studio theme. If another theme was activated, switch back under Appearance → Themes in WordPress, and the design returns.
A form on the draft sends no email #
In the browser draft, entries are stored under WordPress admin → Studio → Forms but no email goes out. Email is sent once the site is on a web host. See Forms.
Undo refuses #
Undo refuses when the page it would restore was changed in WordPress since the request, so your edit is not overwritten. Make the change you wanted in chat or in the editor instead.
The published site came out empty or wrong #
Open Site details and press Publish again: the draft in your browser is sent to the live site once more, keeping its address, plan and domains. If it still is not right, contact support with the site's address.
Something else #
Ask the assistant in chat: it knows what InstaWP Studio can do and sees the page your preview is showing and any error it showed you, so "fix this page" or "there's an error" needs no explanation. New features and fixes are listed on What's new when your InstaWP Studio has one.
