Edit in WordPress
Your site is ordinary WordPress, so the block editor, Media Library, menus and settings all work. What chat keeps when you edit there, and where the two meet.
The preview is a real WordPress site, logged in as its administrator, with the admin bar at the top. Edit Page opens the block editor; the admin bar and the menu take you to Pages, Posts, Media, Appearance, Plugins and Settings like any WordPress site. Ask the assistant to "open the plugins screen" and the preview goes there.
What you can change there #
- Text in any designed section: headings, paragraphs, button labels and other short texts can be retyped in the block editor. The design around them stays.
- Posts: write, edit and publish blog posts; a designed blog page keeps listing them.
- Media: upload images, including the AI and stock images the assistant placed, which are in the Media Library.
- Menus, site title, settings, users, plugins and themes: the usual WordPress screens.
Pages keep their design in the editor: what you see while editing is what visitors see.
Chat keeps up #
Edits you save in WordPress are read by the assistant the next time you ask for something, so it builds on what you changed rather than on an older copy. Renaming or removing a page is kept in step too. The conversation is not lost when you edit in WordPress: the assistant knows what you changed there.
- Undo and WordPress edits: Undo takes back the last chat request. If you changed the same page in WordPress since, Undo refuses instead of overwriting your edit, and the chat says so. Edits elsewhere (another page, a media upload) leave Undo working.
- Sites without post revisions: chat editing still works; only per-edit Undo of those writes is unavailable.
Where the two do not meet #
Chat edits the pages, posts, header, footer and styles it can read. Some things are WordPress's own and stay that way:
- Blocks that generate their content (dynamic or custom blocks from plugins) and pages built with other tools are left to WordPress. Chat can still edit the other areas of the site.
- Site settings and direct changes to the generated CSS in the editor are not read back into chat. Ask for colour and font changes in chat instead, so every page follows.
- Themes: the pages, header, footer and brand styles the assistant designs belong to the InstaWP Studio theme. Switching to another theme under Appearance → Themes hides them until you switch back. Installing another theme is fine; the site keeps using its own.
Some plugins need a real host #
The draft runs in your browser, which is enough for most plugins, forms and shops. Caching, security, email-sending and backup plugins have nothing to cache, protect or send there; the reply says so after installing one, and they work once the site is published on a web host.
