Plugins, shops and WordPress features

Ask for plugins by name, a small shop, menu and settings changes or your own custom code. What the assistant can do in WordPress and how it shows what changed.

Updated

Because your site is real WordPress, the assistant can do WordPress things, not only design. Ask in plain words; developers can ask for the exact thing they want.

Plugins and themes #

Install a contact form plugin.

Add Yoast SEO.

  • Plugins from the WordPress.org directory are installed and activated. Ask by the name you remember, even misspelled; the assistant finds the right one.
  • Themes are installed but not activated: your pages, header, footer and brand styles belong to the InstaWP Studio theme, so the site keeps it. Switch under Appearance → Themes if you want to.
  • Some plugins have nothing to do in the browser draft. After installing a caching, security, email-sending or backup plugin, the reply says it cannot do its job in the preview and will on a real web host.
  • A link to InstaWP Studio can name plugins and themes for a new site. See Install plugins and themes from a link.

A small shop #

Add a small shop with these five products and prices, with pay on collection and bank transfer.

The assistant sets up WooCommerce with products and prices, a cart, and a checkout that takes manual payment such as pay on collection or bank transfer, in your site's design. Card payment providers, shipping, tax and inventory are set up by you in WooCommerce. Photos for products and team members can be added to the Media Library from chat too.

Settings, menus and content #

Change the site title to "Cedar House". Add Gallery to the menu after About. Make the Blog page the posts page.

Site title and tagline, menus, reading settings, pages and posts: the assistant changes them the WordPress way. After a plugin, shop or settings change, the reply shows a receipt of exactly what changed in WordPress, and the status pill names it. The assistant checks that a WordPress function exists on your site before using it, so a mistyped name cannot half-apply a change.

Your own code #

Write a plugin that adds a "Book a table" block with a date picker.

Developers can ask for custom code: a plugin, a snippet, a block. The assistant writes it, installs it and keeps a record of what it built, so later requests do not forget or break it. On a published site, code that changes the live site waits for your approval first; see Edit the live site.

What Undo does not cover #

Undo reverses design and content changes. A plugin install, a settings change or custom code that ran is not reversed; those rows in the chat carry a struck-through Undo icon, and the reply lists them under WordPress changes. Ask the assistant to reverse one, or do it in WordPress.

Errors on a page #

If a page in the preview shows an error, such as a WordPress critical error after a plugin was activated, a bar above the preview says so in plain words and offers to explain and fix it.
