Connect Claude or ChatGPT

Give your published site its own connector so you can change it from Claude or ChatGPT. Where to switch it on, how to add it, and why the address must stay private.

Updated

A published site can be connected to an AI assistant you already use, so "add a post about our spring menu" works from Claude or ChatGPT as well as from InstaWP Studio's chat. The connection is the site's own connector (an MCP server), run by InstaWP on the site itself.

Switch it on #

Find Add to Claude and Add to ChatGPT on the Live screen after publishing, in Site details under Assistants, or any time from the builder's ⋯ menu → Use with Claude or ChatGPT…. The first press switches the connector on for the site; it needs a Sandbox plan or higher.

  • Add to Claude opens Claude's add-connector screen with the address already filled in. Confirm it there and the site appears among Claude's connectors.
  • Add to ChatGPT shows the address to copy, with ChatGPT's own steps for adding a custom connector.

Keep the address private #

The connector address contains a private key. Anyone who has it can change the site, so treat it like a password: do not paste it into shared documents or messages. It follows the site's main domain, so it keeps working after you connect your own domain.

What it can do #

The assistant you connect works on the live site through WordPress: pages, posts, media, menus, plugins and settings, the same things InstaWP Studio's own chat does. Changes made this way are ordinary WordPress changes; they show in the site and in the WordPress editor, and InstaWP Studio's Undo does not cover them.
