Import your website
Paste your current website's address and InstaWP Studio copies it into WordPress as it is, or redesigns it with your content. What comes across and what it costs.
Open Or bring over your current website under the description box on New site, or Import a site on the Sites screen. The screen, Move your website to WordPress, takes the address of any public site: Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Drupal, Joomla, another WordPress site and more. A switch above the box chooses between two ways.
Copy it exactly #
Copy my site makes a WordPress copy of your site with the same look, words, photos and page addresses. No AI is involved and nothing is charged. A new site opens in the builder with progress lines, and the reply says how many pages came over, how much of the text is native blocks you can retype in WordPress, and what differs from the original.
What comes across:
- The home page and every page the header and footer link to on the same site, up to 15 pages, at the same addresses. The reply names any left out. Cart, checkout, account, login and search pages are skipped. Paste any page of the site; the whole site is copied.
- Header, footer and every section; tabs, accordions, phone menus and slideshows as working elements; forms as InstaWP Studio enquiry forms (password and file fields are left out and named).
- Images, videos up to 20 MB, and the site's own or Google fonts. Rented fonts such as Adobe Fonts or Monotype are not copied; their licences stay yours.
- The site's colours become editable site colours, so "change the brand blue to teal" works afterwards.
After the copy, sections that clearly differ from the original are offered page by page with a Match the original button. Pressing it is an ordinary paid, undoable edit that changes only layout, sizes, spacing, colours and backgrounds. Nothing is spent until you press it.
Limits: animations and marquees come over as still pictures of their finished state; pages behind a login or a bot check are not read; blog posts come over as pages, not WordPress posts. A large site can take up to 15 minutes.
The assistant remembers the original address, so "match the source's testimonials section" works weeks later.
Redesign it #
Redesign my site reads your home page (about 10 to 20 seconds) and shows a review screen beside a picture of the page:
- Your content: business details, the words of each section with their word counts, the photos. Turn content off and InstaWP Studio asks what the new site is about instead.
- Your design: logo, colours, fonts, a button sample and wireframes of the sections. Turn it off for a fresh design with your content.
- Tick or untick single items, add a note on anything to change, and see the request that will be sent.
Prepare my hero creates the site and starts the build. With Hero first on (the default) it builds the header and hero, then stops for you to check before the rest. Other pages in your menu are named and can be brought over from chat. Vector graphics are not copied in this flow; the exact copy does copy them.
A page that is blocked, refused or fails to load says so, with Try again and Describe my business instead.
Which to choose #
- You like your site and want it in WordPress: Copy it exactly, then change what you want in chat.
- You want a new design but your words, photos and brand: Redesign it.
- You want the assistant to follow one page you like, exactly, loosely or just its facts: paste its address in chat on any site and say which.
