Credits
Credits pay for the AI work in InstaWP Studio. What a homepage or a change typically uses, how to get more credits, and what happens when they run out.
Credits pay for the AI work in InstaWP Studio: designing pages, making changes and creating images. A bigger request uses more credits than a small one. Publishing a site and editing it in WordPress itself use none.
How far credits go #
| Work | Typical use |
|---|---|
| A new homepage, designed from your description with photos | about 10 credits |
| A change, anything you ask for in chat or with Click to edit | less than 1 credit |
| Three design ideas on Pick a look | less than 1 credit |
| A big request, several pages or many changes at once | up to 25 credits |
Each request uses what its AI work actually costs, so a small fix uses less than a whole new page, and no single request uses more than 25. Voice input and improving your description use a little too. The line under each reply shows what it used ("· 0.4 credits"). A request that fails before changing anything gives its credits back; Undo does not.
Where to see them #
The credits badge sits beside the account on the Sites screen, New site and the builder bar. It reads "N free credits" or this month's balance, and turns to a caution colour when under a tenth of the month's credits is left or at zero. Its menu explains your credits in a line and opens How credits work, a short page in InstaWP Studio with the amounts above and where you are, and Manage credits for accounts, which opens your credits on InstaWP.
How you get credits #
- Try it. Every browser starts with free credits, no account needed, enough to design a homepage and make a few changes.
- Sign in with InstaWP. Signing in brings a larger one-time amount of free credits. Credits you used before signing in count toward it, since it is the same browser.
- Host your site with InstaWP. Every site you publish adds 100 credits a month. All your sites' credits go into one balance that renews monthly. A new site adds its credits day by day in its first month.
- Need more? Monthly credit packages for agencies and busy sites are on the way.
When credits run out #
Your sites stay exactly as they are, and you can still open them, publish them and edit them in WordPress. New AI work pauses until you sign in, host a site, or your monthly credits come back.
- A browser that has used its free credits sees "You have used the free credits for this browser. Sign in with InstaWP to keep building; your sites stay as they are." with a Sign in with InstaWP button, in chat and on Pick a look. A hint appears earlier, when under a quarter of the free credits is left.
- An account whose month's credits are used up sees "This month's credits are used up." with Get more credits, which opens InstaWP.
- A request that reaches the end of your credits stops there, in the same words. What it saved stays.
Deleting or resetting a site never refills free credits.
A quick browser check #
Before its first AI request, a browser that has not signed in may be asked to pass a short Cloudflare check: a small box in the bottom-right corner with a line saying why. It protects the free credits from scripts and is asked once.
